ROCKDOG
is the only shop on the South
Coast that is totally dedicated to the repair of tube and
solid-state amplifiers and most of the electronic equipment used by
musicians.
As well as being an amp builder
and technician with over 30 years of experience I am also a
guitarist in a working rock/blues band and like you, am on the
endless quest for great tone. I reckon I know what your amp
is supposed to sound like.
All repairs are fully guaranteed
for 3 months and I do not charge if I cannot fix.
If you have recently purchased a
second-hand amplifier, consider getting it serviced.
An amp service includes a very
stringent inspection of all components and circuit boards, cleaning
and/or replacing of controls and connections, output power and wave
form checked, tubes checked and biased plus a full report on the
condition of the unit.
Call anytime or just drop in for
a free estimate on the cost of having your amp serviced or repaired.
I also offer free advice on pedal
setups and getting the best sound from your equipment.
Guitar and bass amplifiers, as
well as some older mixers and PA equipment, are some of the last
remaining pieces of electronic equipment that can still be
economical to repair.
Amps can break down due to lack
of servicing or from the hard use they receive while out there on
the road. Unlike the 'throw away' type of electronics we are
becoming more accustomed to, amplifiers, especially tube
amplifiers, use parts that can still be individually replaced if
they fail. I come from an era when just about everybody's dad was
able to fix their own TV or radio by pulling off the back of the
cabinet and changing tubes. Some major amp repairs can seem
expensive but will still be much cheaper than buying a new amp. And
once an amp has been repaired and set up properly it really can be
as 'good as new'.
